    I am still kickin'
So, it was pointed out to me that my live journal has been neglected for a while, and this sure is the truth! Since my last posting I finished up a Master's in Health Policy at Johns Hopkins and took a job with a consulting firm in Boston. It has been an okay year at the company but today is the start of my last week with them...it just didn't feel right and I need to find something I am passionate about in order to be happy. So that's that...I start work with the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) in September and am extremely excited.

Other aspects of life are great! I recently bought a new condo in Boston. It's great to be a homeowner...Nick and I are still together and more in love then ever. He starts his MD/PhD at Boston University in the fall. I can assure you that the two of us will be in Boston for quite a long time...so you must come out and visit!

Well I'm sitting at home avoiding a walk to work because it's raining cats and dogs out there, but I guess I should get my butt in gear and head out...I'll get back in the groove and update my live journal more often now :o)

Okay...I'll get better at this eventually...so here's an update:

I won't be making it to Boston this summer because the time I was planning to go is the time that my cousin's wedding "tailor" can get all of our measurements and have us pick our colours. Sigh!

So it's off to Toronto in a week for the wonderful world of shopping for rental jewelry and getting fitted for clothes I will only wear once. I really really wish I could have made it to Erin's Wedding it promises to be fabulous, I'm sure.

Otherwise...I quit a job for the first time ever, my boss was a little um NOT NICE! But, on the bright side I was hired by someone 2 offices down. Weird how that works. So I'm busy drafting privacy policies for The Ottawa Heart Institute, after which I present it to the Supreme Court of Canada for approval. Perfect mix of Health Policy and Health Law, great experience, although I still have to see my old boss every few minutes!

The weekend has been eventful thus far, my brother is visiting from Toronto. My friend Greg is visiting, I got blocked on the highway on ramp by a group of 4 deer and I got hit on in the most vulgar way possible!

The rest of the weekend will be spent fringin' and cleanin'. Hope everyone is having a blast!

    Oh my!
It's going to be a long summer! My office has resorted to moving me around from desk to desk according to people's meeting schedules. If things don't pick up soon I've decided I am not wasting a summer, after all I should be relaxing a little more before Graduate School! Heck, even my mother was trying to figure out why I didn't just take the summer off and travel. OY!

On the bright side, Nickers and I may be headed to BOSTON! You know what that means! It means a big hug for Jonjon and Alissa :o) Woohoo!

Alright, so there's something to look forward to. Well, I'm off to jump in the pool, it's hot out today!

    Tootles!

    Where did I go?
Hehe, I fell off the livejournal planet, which was undoubtedly bound to happen in my early days of livejournal :o)

Well the past little while has been spent apartment hunting. I travelled over to Baltimore with my father and we came back with a great apartment overlooking the harbour, I am so extremely excited. I also found a great roommate, at least we seem to get along we've been having extended phone conversations that well, I guess, her bank account is not going to be happy with. I guess you don't realize how some phone plans really take advantage of the "International Call", even though in reality it costs the same, to flip a switch domestically or internationally. The things our human selves will pay for ;o). We should all go on international phone strike and see what phone companies do!

Anywho, today was my first day at work for the summer, and boy it was a crappy one! They forgot I started today so nobody was there to greet me when I walked in bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning. The doors were locked, my supervisor was on jury duty and her assistant decided to sleep in...woohoo. So I called her at home and woke her up. And well, the day was all down hill from there.

Until I spoke to Mr. Nick and he made me laugh, woohoo, such a funky monkey (that's a good thing). And then I used all my negative energy and chanelled it into a wonderful run. It's really fun listening to nature sounds and running on a treadmill. You just picture yourself running through a forest and before you know it you've run 5 miles and you're drenched in sweat because the air conditioner broke down earlier today :o)

But alas, when it's over, you realize you should have taken the doctors advice and only done low impact workouts because you'll spend the rest of the night in front of a TV or a computer with an ice pack on your ankle. Tomorrow it's the bike folks, screw the running business (at least until the swelling goes down).

    Well there's a lengthy update!

    What a day!
    Happy Birthday JonJon! :)

Well, today was a long day. Woke up at 6am to start baking the desserts for my mother's dinner party tonight. I made a chocolate almond cake, a honey almond cake and a lemon berry tart. Then I did all the preparing for my mother's cooking. By 3:30pm I was passed out on the couch! Woke up at 6:30, just in time to help serve dinner and such.

Banged my knee on the table, so it's now blue and puffy. Followed that with running up and down the stairs being the little slave child...or so it seemed. So in the end, my right ankle is swollen because well, it's still not healed from the fracture and my left knee is swollen too...sigh...I'm a walking wreck! Hopefully it all disappears for tomorrow, because I need to build back the muscle in my right leg so that I can coach on the weekends!

On the bright side...my Nick (yes he's mine ;o)) is coming to Ottawa next weekend for my birthday on Friday and then to hang out with me. Andrea (Nick's sister) is coming too. It'll be tons of fun! Can't wait! Until then I will continue to work, work, work!

Have a good night my friends

So it was a long day! They finished up my room, and well...it's extremely purple :( Or um lavender as the designer corrected me! Then it was an interesting run-in with my uncle. Oddly enough, I actually miss being able to talk to him easily and freely. It's just real weird, maybe after a summer at home that will go away.

Anyway, I think I offended the decorator when I said my room looked like a circus. But alas, he retorted quite quickly with "and you're my favourite little monkey". He threatened to throw out my big teddy Harry, I would have had to kick his butt hard! Jeepers...oh well, it's done. I can move back into my room!

Oh well, cheers for the night. I'm headed to a "While you Were Out" marathon with my aunt :)

    woohoo! me gots it! :o)

although, I'll have to wait on the Icon, because my computer isn't connected to the internet and my father's computer is temperamental with pictures, but it'll come.

I also just scored me a balance ball and I have been rolling around for the past hour, haha, it's so funny...but i'll be sore tomorrow. My advice to everyone is to get one of those, it makes TV watching more exciting. Alright, time for me to actually stop updating this addictive thing and well...finish up some research and unpacking UGH!

How do you put your mood and music on an entry AND

How do I get an Icon!

    Bejeepers I'm a dumbass!

    Utterly Exhausted!
Today's been a long day! Woke up to a phone call...it was the lady who is redecorating my room...jeepers, it looks weird! Went for my first workout since I hurt my ankle, the physical therapist suggested I get back on track because I lost quite a bit of muscle in the one leg :o(

Oh well, the rest of the day was spent unpacking. Made my parents dinner for the second night in a row, most people come home to mom's cooking...sigh!

I have also started my volunteer orientation for the Ottawa Fringe Festival, I'm very very excited! If anyone wants to visit for the festival, I would love to have you over. It's all about theater and music and such. Although, the Blues Fest in July is much cooler...so you should save a trip for that.

Otherwise, I am just really tired from today and am ready to snuggle up with a blanky and watch a movie, yippee! Other than the cooking and cleaning and stuff, the summer may end up being a lot of fun.
